The RBC Heritage has long been the event that follows The Masters on the PGA Tour. It’s held on the beautiful Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, at Harbour Town Golf Links. This is usually a chance for those players that didn’t get a chance to play for the coveted Green Jack, to try for the iconic plaid jacket awarded to the winner each year. In its 55th occurrence, though, our tour professionals are playing for a little more than the Jacket. In its newly appointed designated status, the players are also playing for a nice payday.
The Purse at the 2023 RBC Heritage
The total purse at the RBC Heritage is $20 million dollars. This is a staggering 150% improvement compared to the $8 million that was available to players last year. This level of increase is certain to drive up the level of competition as well since that financial gain can affect how players set up their schedule for the rest of the season. The winner at this year’s RBC Heritage is Matthew Fitzpatrick. With this win, Fitzpatrick will take home $3.6 million, the usual 18% we often see paid out to winners on tour.
How much do caddies make at the RBC Heritage?
The players aren’t the only ones reaping the benefits of the new designated event status. The winning caddie at the RBC Heritage is Billy Foster. With this win, Foster secures a hefty $360,000 payday. To put that into perspective, more than double the amount Michael Greller took home in 2022, when Jordan Spieth secured his win at this event and $45K more than the payday at last year's US Open. As for the rest of the caddie field, they can expect to take home some portion of the $1.5 million pot available to the caddies that make the cut over the weekend.
