Jon Rahm has been nothing short of a force on the PGA tour in the 2022-2023 season. He started the season with a win in his first 3 starts and has used that momentum to create one of the most impressive runs in the history of the PGA Tour. From a performance perspective, he’s finished in the top 15 in 10 of his first 13 starts, securing 4 wins in the process.
This insane run will go down as one of the hottest starts in PGA Tour history. The most recent run we’ve seen that comes close was that of Scottie Scheffler last year, when it seemed like the floodgates opened up for him after his first win at the 2022 WM Phoenix Open. Scottie went on to earn $11.2 million which, at the time, was the highest earnings we’d seen in a single season.
With his 2nd place finish at the 2023 Mexico Open, Jon Rahm’s 2023 has officially become the highest earning player, in a single season, in Tour history. His Earnings as of April 30, 2023 is a staggering $14.6 million, 30% more that Scheffler finished with at the end of the 2022 season. The crazy thing is, we’re barely a quarter of the way through the season.
Adam Hayes may go down as the caddie with the highest earnings in a single season
With Jon Rahm’s incredible performance this season, his caddie, Adam Hayes, is also making his mark in the history books. Since caddie earnings are based on their player’s performance, If a player is setting records in earnings, we can expect the same for his/her caddie. Due to a combination of an impressive run and record setting purses at newly included designated events, we’re seeing Adam Hayes reaping massive rewards. After just 13 starts in the 2022-2023 season, Hayes has earned about $1.3 million. This puts him 30% ahead of the previous single-season earnings record of $1 million set by Ted Scott, Scottie Scheffler’s caddie.
Jon Rahm is showing no signs of slowing down this, which means we could see a record set that could stand the test of time. Do you think Adam Hayes will remain the highest earning caddie in a single season, in tour history? Follow along as I track Hayes’ earnings this year.
