Meet Aaron Flener: J.T. Poston’s Caddie

J.T Poston is a PGA tour player, originally from Hickory, NC, with a pretty solid game. He’s one of those PGA Tour pros that fly under the radar. J.T. Poston secured his first and only PGA Tour title at the Wyndham Championship in 2019. Though he hasn’t quite found his way back to the winner’s circle as often, Poston’s complete game is a very strong indicator that he has what it takes to win multiple titles on the PGA Tour. While Poston’s playing ability is enough to help him secure more titles in the future, we like to highlight the person that is crucial in many of the decisions made out on the golf course, his caddie. Who is J.T. Poston’s caddie?

J.T. Poston’s caddie is Aaron Flener. Flener is like many of the caddies on the PGA Tour, in that he’s been around the game for a really long time. Aaron grew up in Glasgow Kentucky and went to TK high school where he was groomed by his golf hero, Kenny Perry. Perry was Instrumental in Flener landing a spot on his college golf team at Lipscomb University, where he played for 4 years from 2001-2004. After his college career, Flener ended up on tour caddying for Kent Bulle and Stephen Jaeger before partnering with JT Poston.

When did Aaron Flener start to caddie for J.T. Poston?

Though the actual date is tough to track down, my investigation suggests that Aaron Flener became J.T. Poston’s caddie back in early 2018. Flener has now been caddying for Poston for close to four and a half years. In all, Flener may have been caddying on tour for at least eight and a half years, which makes him a seasoned PGA Tour caddie.

How much does Aaron Flener, J.T. Poston’s caddie, make?

Given the volatile nature of performance-based compensation, a caddie’s wages can be vastly different from one year to the next. For that reason, we’ll focus on how much Aaron Flener earned while caddying for JT Poston in the 2021-2022 season. The formula used in this estimate is one that most Tour players use for paying their caddies: 5% of earnings if they place outside the top 10, 7% if they place within the top 10, and 10% if they finish in 1st place. The 2023 Masters Caddie Payout: How Much Caddies Make at the Masters
